Individual therapy is a personal opportunity to receive support and experience growth during challenging times in life. I work with my patients on many aspects of life including anxiety  depression, anger, substance abuse, marriage and relationship challenges and grief.  I provide a safe space matched with a warm and caring approach where I work with my patients to explore their thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behaviors.. We work through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work toward desired change.

I believe there are physical manifestations of mental health issues such as panic and depressive thoughts have symptoms eased through certain exercises.  If we have identified what those symptoms are, patients will often leave our first session with exercises to practice at home.

I believe that mental health care is done on a collaborative basis.  I collaborate with my patient’s psychiatrists, when my patients come  to me on medication, or if the patient and I decide that they need a medication evaluation, I recommend that my patient see a psychiatrist for a medication evaluation.  Additionally, I strongly believe in the power of 12 Step programs, and am willing to work with my patients on individual therapy while my patient is in a 12 Step program.

I do not believe that patients should be in therapy forever.  My goal while working with my patients, is to address their issues, have them feeling better, functioning better, living better, and then set up bi monthly or monthly appointments.

I have many patients who tell me they feel comfortable and safe while working with me because I bring genuine positivity and hopefulness into the sessions, while still leaving space to feel raw emotions.  I am also engaging and open rather than being a blank slate.  I like to be relatable and show that therapists are also human.
